In the Night Garden, a CBeebies show aimed at helping pre-school children to relax and fall asleep in the evening, should be, with its mixture of long static takes, slow pans and zooms, repetitive soothing noises and music, and Derek Jakobi’s lilting narration, prescribed by doctors, so calming and hypnotic are its rhythms, as a cure for stress and anxiety; toddlers seem to quite like it as well!
